As B.I.D.'s company President, over the years, I have had unforgettable moments at our conventions and I am very proud of having had the privilege of presenting B.I.D. Quality Awards to numerous and significant representatives of the worlds of business and science.

The Sheraton Hotels brand is renowned throughout  the world. It was a great honor to grant the B.I.D. Quality Award to Mr. Mady, Director General of the Sheraton Harare Hotel & Towers General Director.

One of the world's most impressive entrepreneurs, Shahnaz Husain, from India, President of Shahnaz Herbals, has been a special guest at  two of B.I.D. Conventions,and received the B.I.D. Quality Awards, after her appearance at the "Success" (U.S.A) cover magazine.

As one of the most influential businesswomen in the world, Husain has held audience with the likesof Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Herbals company is valued at over 100 million dollars on the world market.

Mr Gennady Biryukov, Director of KBTM, a company that designs satellite launching platforms.

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, a state organization, of more than 100 years old, in charge of certifying and establishing quality and safety standards in Russia and other former Soviet countries.

From China: Hong Yuen Electronics Ltd. (Hong Kong), a subsidiary of China Aerospace International Holdings Limited (CASIL), that specializes in the research, development, manufacture and commercialization of products, and space technology; exporting 95% of its production to clients in the U.S., Japan, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Guangdong Foodstuffs Import & Export (Group) Corp., is made up of 40 companies, ranked among the 500 most important import and export companies in the world. It owns Swire Guandong Coca-Cola Ltd, China's main producer and distributor of Coca-Cola products

Commercial Press, one of the largest and most influential publishing houses in China, well-known for its dictionaries and academic titles. Although most of its editions are for the national market in China, its dictionaries and language textbooks are distributed throughout the rest of the world.

B.I.D. awards have grown throughout the years and have witnessed great business achievements. I have seen companies from all over the world growing in number, size and quality.

I have had the opportunity to meet and speak personally with business leaders, scientists, politicians and marketing experts who have taken their ideas and turned them into business successes, achieving notable recognition amongst their peers.

B.I.D. has positioned these entrepreneurs at the pinnacle of recognitio, recognizing their achievements with a quality awards presented annually in locations such as Paris, Geneva, London, Frankfurt, New York, Moscow and Madrid.

I had had the honor of sharing the stage of B.I.D. Quality Conventions and presenting the BID Award to Valery Menshikov, Director of the Research Institute of Space Systems of Russia (Research Institute of Space Systems – NII Kosmichekikh Sistem GKNPTS Im. Khrunichev), whose multiple achievements are crowned by the development of the motor of perpetual movement to be used both in space and on earth.

I was recently with Ali H. Odeh, Vice President & General Manager of the Middle East headquarters of Turner Construction International LLC, which is in on charge of the on-going construction of the tallest building in the world, to reach 810 meters in height, which will hold, among other business stars, a hotel by Giorgio Armani.

I experienced a very special moment in 1986 when I presented a B.I.D. Quality Award to the then the Mayor of San Antonio, Texas (USA), Mr. Henry Cisneros, at the Town Hall of the country’s 10th most populous city. Six years later, the elected president of the U.S.A. named Henry Cisneros as Secretary of Housing.Years later, my family and I had the opportunity of greeting Bill Clinton himself during an official visit to Spain as President of the USA.

Growing countries

China impresses me for the strength of its entrepreneurs and for the size of some of its companies, such as B.I.D. Quality Award winner Beijing Cofco Plaza Development Co. belonging to the COFCO group, which holds 366th place in the Fortune 500.

It is interesting to note that China, the world's most densely populated country and source of great immigrations to Europe and America, has produced a Chinese businessman named Mr. Peter J. Crowhurst, General Manager of Beijing Cofco Plaza and grandson of an Englishman who emigrated to China, making him an unusual Chinese business leader.

India, with its emerging strengths in business, also collects B.I.D. awards annually. The subcontinent has produced outstanding leaders, in charge of companies of up to 80,000 employees.

Indian Oil Corporation, whose Executive Director is Mr. P.S. Rao, received the BID Quality Award in Geneva presently holds 83rd place on the Global Fortune 500 list.

An unforgettable experience was opportunity to meet with Mr. Sergey Dubinin, Vice Chairman of the Board of RAO of Russia, the company which administers 60% of the energy in Russia. I had the great honor to present the prestigious BID Quality Award in Geneva to Mr. Dubinin when he was Advisor to the President of Russia, President of the Central Bank and also the Secretary of Finance.
